I have been a regular member of the columbus centre for the last 4 years and what transpired today has compelled me to write a review. At 3PM on a weekend day this gym closes at PM on weekends, believe it or not , me and a friend non-member came to the gym for a workout with the plan of purchasing a day pass for her.

Not only was this outrageous, but it made no sense. When we politely brought this up with another employee inside the office, he abruptly dismissed me, telling me that the office was closed and that there was nothing he could do. Once again, keep in mind that they were telling us this from inside of the office, from where they sell day passes.

Me and my friend were forced to leave and go to nearby Benelife, where I signed up on the spot. This whole situation was extremely embarrassing and I have absolutely had it with the rude staff that work at this gym.

I will be cancelling my membership tomorrow. As far as the facilities go, I will now give a completely accurate review. The equipment is quality and I have had a lot of good workouts here. One issue could be that the dumbbells only go up to 85lb. Otherwise, the equipment should more than suffice for any gym-goer.

The change rooms need to be renovated ASAP, especially the washrooms. There are also naked men constantly walking around or hanging out in the change room for no apparent, even when they can put a towel or clothes on.

I have found this to be very uncomfortable at times. Djgoldma Toronto, Canada contributions. I used to be a member of the gym here. Great facility, amazing gym, and great cafeteria.

Everything is very tasty and well prepared. This is not fine Italian dinning but very good hot table value for lunch or a quick meal. The coffee is excellent. Well worth it. Gail B Toronto, Canada 67 contributions. Keeping Fit at the Columbus Centre.

I am a member of the gym at the Columbus Centre. It is a wonderful gym, with many excellent facilities which help all muscles and muscle groups of the body.

I go to work out there four times per week, spending around three hours each time. The personal trainers are highly qualified and always at the ready to assist members in achieving their fitness goals, plus answering any questions that people may have.

I have been a gym member for a few years, and plan on remaining there at the Columbus Centre for a long time to come. Truth Seeker A 1 contribution.

Was disappointed by the food as it was not fresh and the service was very slow. Will not be recommending this place. Could not post my comment until I gave this place a terrible rating. But the experience was worse than terrible. Rodlow Toronto, Ontario 35 contributions. We were there for a party of approx. Celebrating a christening. The room was bright and airy and lots of room. The services staff was excellent and also the food was amazing. Don't know if the food is from the adjoining Boccaccio restaurant on the premises but it was great.

Would definitely recommend for a family function. Elena R North York 42 contributions. Grilled octopus, spicy Nduja sausage, fennel, grapefruit, crisp potatoes, saffron aioli.

The food is wonderful, the service attentive and the price is reasonable. Would recommend Boccaccio any time. Fantastic food and service for Winterlicious The lunch was excellent and well presented. Our waiter was beyond courteous. The restaurant is beautifully set up and perfect for a private event or romantic dinner.

I cannot wait to come back and try the regular menu! Food was fabulous and the service outstanding. Will definitely be going back. Everything about this restaurant is excellent. I would highly recommend. The food presentation and taste was excellent.

Sadly, the service we received was very compromised. We went on a Friday night at 6 pm. Not many people so it was quiet and service was good. Got busy at Absolutely delicious food and amazing service. Roberto, our server, was great. Wanted to try the food before we get married at the Columbus Centre later in the year and very happy to know it is very good. Excellent food and service. I would definitely eat here again.

Always solid food here this is a hidden gem go here it is Inside the Columbus Centre. Great restaurant. Roberto anD Victorio make our night extra nice the Caesar salad was delicious and the octopus to nice Christmas gift exchange we enjoy it. Good italian style food. Ideal if you want to have a conversation. Delicious food, nice ambiance, easy parking and a great way to celebrate an occasion.

We were able to have a conversation without too much noise around us as we enjoyed a delicious dinner. Excellent dinner and venue. The staff were very kind and helpful.

The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Our friends thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The new menu is refreshing and has great options. I had the lamb, it was cooked to perfection! A great neighbourhood gem! Excellent service, excellent food and superb attention by wait staff Vittorio especially. I have eaten at three different restaurants this week with family and friends and this evenings experience was the best by far. Another great experience at one of our favourite Italian restaurants Hidden gem!

The wine selection is very extensive and not overpriced. If you are lucky, you will find lamb shank on the menu. Five of us went for lunch and four of us and many of the other patrons it seemed thoroughly enjoyed the lamb shank special, served with potatoes and fresh veggies. The other, owing to an allergy, was not disappointed by his risotto.

Their desserts were delicious. Our choices were a lime cream, and a very chocolatey brownie with fresh fruit The service was excellent, friendly, informative and just perfect as far as I was concerned. Can't wait for our next visit. You get a sense of Italian culture and community because this restaurant is within the Columbus Centre. Definitely worth a try!! Ashley G DeliciousThe food in this restaurant is incredible, the chef is amazing and puts together impeccable italian dishes.

I had purchased a Groupon and it was my husband's birthday. We had a wonderful server, Andreas, who could have been mistaken for being Italian but he was from Colombia. Very personable and good sense of humour. For our appetizer, we shared a substantial dish of breaded artichoke and calamari which was OK. My husband raved about his veal escalope sauteed in white wine sauce with mushrooms.

I had the seafood of the day--grilled sea bass--which was tender and flaky. The accompanying vegetables were al dente. For dessert, we shared a Tiramisu which melted in the mouth. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience--not just the meal. We only found out about this hidden gem after my son and future daughter-in-law looked at the wedding venue in another part of the Columbus Centre. We booked dinner reservations at the restaurant to check out the quality of the food and service before booking the wedding - the same chef that's at the restaurant provides the catering for weddings held at the centre.

We started the meal with a shared antipasto platter for six and a decent bottle of pinot grigio. The platter was good, if uninspiring, and included typical fare including calimari, olives, grilled eggplants, bocconcini, and tomatos, and drizzled with good Italian olive oil and balsamic. As my primi course I tried the risotto ai funghi.

Now this is what risotto is supposed to taste like! Although it was so good and I wanted to eat it all, it was also so good that I wanted everyone else at the table to try it. Everybody loved it. This is definitely going to be one of the courses we serve at the wedding! Other primi courses ordered were two different gnocchi dishes, one in a cream based sauce and the other in a tomato sauce.

The cream sauce version was the clear winner as the tomato sauce, surprisingly, lacked seasoning. The main courses chicken supreme, veal, swordfish, tagliatelle, etc. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Then they see the restaurant, and taste the food, and get the great service, and somehow the venue is forgotten. Ristorante Boccaccio is not really in an old folks' home. It is at the bottom floor of the Columbus Centre, an Italian community centre in the heart of one of the older Italian areas of Toronto, at Lawrence and Dufferin.

True, there are a number of programs for seniors there as well as a daycare and a very nice fitness club , but this is a community centre, and it is usually bustling with activity.
